An on-line lectureTargeted Poverty Alleviation: China’s Ingenuity to Defeat Povertywas held on the afternoon of June 24 to Vientiane Capital Politics and Public Administration School (VCPPAS), nearly 400staff from Vientiane participating in the lecture, including staff from the Foreign Affairs Office, representative from the VientianeAssociation for Friendship with Foreign Countries, officials from the municipal and county level as well as staff from VCPPAS and trainees of 6 classes.

Ms. Liu Xiaoyun, staff of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, BAI, made a through report on China’s poverty relief endeavor, introducing the achievements of poverty relief in China, the key of success in China’s poverty relief, targeted poverty relief strategy and international cooperation in poverty relief. By sharing her own working experience in this regard and presenting an abundance of statistics and charters, Ms. Liu Xiaoyun showed that targeted poverty relief strategy of President Xi Jinping not only provides a crucial action plan for China to succeed in poverty relief, but also offers a constructive option for the whole world in this regard.

In the Q&A section, trainees from VCPPAS raised questions regarding how to help poverty group stand on their own foot, poverty relief for special need group and agricultural product sale of poverty group, which were properly answered by the lecturer.

The president of VCPPAS spoke highly of this lecture in her speech, recognizing the great achievements in China’s poverty relief endeavor. She holds that the Chinese wisdom in poverty relief is worth learning by not only Laos but also all other developing countries. She mentioned that targeted poverty relief strategy of President Xi Jinping offers an important guideline for Laos to work out their own poverty relief strategy. She also spoke highly of China’s effort in keeping the Covid-19 under control on one hand and promoting economic development on the other. The president of VCPPAS also quoted President Xi Jinping reference to Laos as China’s good neighbor, good friend, good comrade and good partner, who share a common destiny, stating that VCPPAS would like to develop the relations with BAI likewise.
