BAI Held Virtual Lecture On American Presidential Election

The Department of Politics and the international cooperation and exchange department of BAI jointly held a virtual lecture on the presidential election of the United States on Oct. 15th. In this lecture, Dr. Yawei Liu, a senior consultant on China affairs at the Carter Center in the United States, editor-in-chief of the China-US Impression website, and an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science at Emory University in the United States, was invited to give a lecture on "The Donkey and Elephant Controversy. Who will win?"


Professor Liu Yawei first introduced the history of the US presidential election system. Later, Professor Liu analyzed the process of the general election in an in-depth manner from the four stages of the primary election within the party, the selection of campaign partners, the bipartisan national congress, and the first television debate.


In the question discussion session, Professor Liu gave a comprehensive and detailed answer to questions about the influence of the political evolution of American political parties on the election situation, and the reconstruction of American social values. Finally, Director Zhang Haiping of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department gave a precise summary of this lecture from the three dimensions of history, reality, and theory.


This academic lecture closely fits to the hot spots of international public opinion, and has great significance for promoting the research about related field.
