BAI Exchanges Governance Insights with Addis Ababa Leadership Academy

A four-member delegation from Beijing Administration Institute(BAI) wrapped up a five-day visit to Addis Ababa Leadership Academy(AALA),boosting bilateral cooperation under the 2026 China-Africa People-to-People Exchange Year.


Heading the team was Professor Zhang Yan, Director of the Center for Case Teaching and Research. The delegation also included Associate Professor Bo Fan from the Economics Department, Associate Professor Chen Chen from the library, and Dr. Du Danning from the Public Administration Department.


Dr.Tassew Gebre, President of AALA, extended a warm welcome to the delegation.The two institutions, which have partnered since 2014, held inter-institutional meetings to align future cooperation on curriculum building, digital training and joint research. Both sides agreed to renew their cooperation memorandum and launch more joint programs.


The delegation delivered lecturesand academic exchanges,tailored to local policymakers, academics and enterprise representatives.The sessions unpacked China’s hands-on practices in urban governance, ecological conservation and territorial spatial planning. Off campus, the Chinese team toured a landmark riverside urban renewal project in Addis Ababa.


The fruitful visit creates a valuable channelfor South-South mutual learning, enabling China to share its development pathways while absorbing Ethiopia’s local governance insights, further enriching the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Ethiopia.
