Beijing, Jul 3, 2024 - A six-member delegation from Beijing Administrative Institute recently concluded a week-long visit to Vietnam and Singapore from June 16 to 22, engaging in academic exchanges and exploring potential collaboration mechanisms in think tank research and decision-making consultancy.

In Vietnam, the delegation held fruitful discussions with representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Cadre Academy, the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology. Professor Shan Aihong, the head of the delegation, and Director of Leadership Science, kicked off the meetings by quoting from the poems of Ho Chi Minh, evoking the profound friendship between China and Vietnam and recalling the amicable exchanges between Beijing Administrative Institute and Ho Chi Minh City Cadre Academy. The Vietnamese side shared their strategic plans for 2030 and 2050, as well as the city’s pilot development policies, technological advancements, and innovation incentives. Both sides delved into topics such as social governance, think tank research, and decision-making consultancy.

We were warmly received by Dr. Nguyen Tan Phat - Member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Cadre Academy,” said a member from the delegation. “The exchanges were lively and productive, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.”

Shifting focus to Singapore, the delegation visited the Singapore Public Service College, where they were briefed on the institution’s organizational structure, international collaborations, and leadership training programs. The delegation actively engaged in discussions, exploring avenues for joint research and think tank partnerships, aligning their research interests and work domains with those of the Singaporean counterparts.

Furthermore, the delegation visited the Nanyang Technological University’s Center for Public Administration, discussing potential collaborations in talent development programs, visiting scholarships, short-term study programs, research collaborations, and decision-making consultancy projects.

The delegation also made a stop at the East Asian Institute of the National University of Singapore, where they exchanged views on pressing theoretical and practical issues in social governance and digital culture governance.

As regional cooperation deepens, the international exchange of think tank research, decision-making consultancy, and research outcomes has become increasingly vital,” remarked Shan Aihong. “As one of the key institutions for nurturing administrative talents and conducting policy research in China, Beijing Administrative Institute’s visit to Vietnam and Singapore has promoted academic exchanges and mutual learning, broadened our research horizons.”
