The oldest political party in Italy's history. Established in 1892. Originally known as the Italian Labor Party, it was renamed to its current name in 1895 and entered parliament. In 1914, Mussolini was expelled from the party. Joined the Third International in 1919 and withdrew in 1923. In 1921, his left wing formed the Italian Communist Party. It was banned by the Mussolini regime in 1922. He participated in the anti fascist struggle during the 1930s and World War II. In 1943, public activities resumed under the name of the Italian Proletarian Solidarity Socialist Party. Participated in the coalition government from 1944 to 1947. In 1947, his right-wing formed the Italian Workers' Socialist Party, and the remaining majority restored the name of the Italian Socialist Party. Since 1963, he has participated in the center left coalition government multiple times. In October 1966, the Italian Social Democratic Party joined the Italian Socialist Party, known as the Unified Socialist Party. In 1969, it split again and each used its old name. Joined the Five Party Coalition Government since 1981. In August 1983, General Secretary Bettino Clarksi became the Prime Minister of the government, marking the first time in the history of the Italian Republic that both the Prime Minister and President (S. Pertini, who served as President from 1978 to 1985) were held by Socialists. In many local governments, social parties form left-wing coalition governments with the Communist Party. The Socialist Party advocates reform of the national political and economic system, supports international easing, and supports European unity. General Secretary O. Del Turco. The "Clean Hands Movement" in 1992 triggered a major political revolution in Italy, with some important political parties such as the Italian Catholic Democratic Party and Socialist Party disintegrating in a series of scandal investigations
