The Renaissance Party is the ruling party of France and the largest party in the National Assembly. On May 5, 2022, The Progressive Party of the Republic announced that it will rename itself as the "Renaissance Party" and participate in the French parliamentary elections in June. On September 17, 2022, French President Macron's political party held a conference and officially decided to change its name from "Republican Progressive Party" to "Renaissance Party".

Its core founding members were mostly from the reformist wing of the Socialist Party and civil society, and it has since attracted a large number of members from other factions such as moderates and centrists on the right.
