The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, visited the Cemetery of Matteo Ricci on Feb. 22 during his state visit to China from Feb. 21 to 26, 2017.

President Mattarella paid his respect to Matteo Ricci by presenting flowers to his tomb. Mr. Wang Minzhong, Executive Vice President of Beijing Administration Institute, met with the President and said that he visited the birth place of Matteo Ricci, the city of Macerata during his business visit to Italy last year and reached agreement with University of Macerata on institutional and cultural cooperation. Professor Yu Sanle served as the narrator and answered questions raised by the President and his delegation members.

President thanked BAI for its contribution to cultural exchanges between Italy and China.
