Spanish AmbassadorAlberto Carnero Fernándezand his colleagues in the embassy visited the Cemetery of Matteo Ricciand other foreign missionarieson July 12, 2018.

Mr.Fernándezlistened to the general introduction of the foreign missionaries’ history and our measures in protecting the historical stones, which records the links between the west and the east in the past and continues to serve as a bridge connecting different cultures. This visit was made against the background of the 400thanniversary of the death of Diego de Pantoja, a Spanish missionary who came to China together with Matteo Ricci. The Instituto Cervantes, a cultural institute of the Spanish embassy, is to hold a series of activities in commemoration of Patoja’s death.

At the end, on behalf of BAI, Zhang Haiping, director of International Cooperation and Exchange Department, presented the bookHistory Recorded by Stonesto the ambassador as a gift.
